The works for this exhibition represent more than twelve months of studio practice for Ngaio Lenz. Created in slow-time, they involve layer upon layer of paint which is then peeled, scraped and sanded to reveal the memory of time. In a nod to her earlier bodies of work, this exhibition examines an aesthetic of imperfection, reflecting the flaws which appear along life’s long journey.
