Angel Song is an exhibition that begins with matter – the material substances of the art objects. Something very particular about how the works are made initiates a visual language of the transparency, opacity and viscosity of gouache, ink and crayon, and its trans-substantiation with paper. Fluid film intersects with the fibre, texture, hue, and absorption of exquisitely crafted handmade paper. As with the art of all true practitioners of the genre, these works on paper have an intrinsically erotic character: paper is the womb inseminated by the fluid of life. An image – a world – is born. Matter over mind…
