Martin King was today announced as a recipient of a State Library of Victoria Creative Fellowship. The fellowship program provides artists and scholars with a unique environment in which to immerse themselves in the Library's many and varied collections and provides a three month placement. During this time Martin will be investigating the native flora and fauna depicted in William Strutt's iconic painting Black Thursday, February 6th 1851. This will lead to a new body of work that reinterprets Strutt's iconography in the light of contemporary thinking
