After being closed for reconstruction, Newcastle Art Gallery will reopen on February 28, 2026 with a group exhibition, Iconic Loved Unexpected, featuring two sculptural works by Dadang Christanto. Missing 1 and Hidden were acquired by the gallery in 2020, and will be resurfacing in the exhibition that unveils their newly renovated gallery space. Christanto’s practice for many decades pursues his commitment to shining a light on Indonesian political corruption and violence.
