Tony Albert‘s diverse and highly acclaimed multi-disciplinary practice examines the history of racial and cultural misrepresentation. Provoked by the the historical profiling of Indigenous Australians in mainstream culture, Albert’s ironic use of wordplay seeks to reclaim history. His works are held in collecting institutions including the National Gallery of Victoria, the National Gallery of Australia, the Art Gallery of New South Wales, the Australian War Memorial, the Art Gallery of Western Australia and the Gallery of Modern Art—Queensland Art Gallery.
