Gallerysmith joins 'This Wild Song' to tackle gender equality

Did you know that despite the fact that 75% of art school graduates are women, the average number of female artists represented by Victorian commercial galleries is just 40%?

Gallerysmith is proud to be one of only five commercial art galleries in Melbourne whose list of represented artists comprises more women than men.

Our track record of supporting women has been evident since we launched our gallery in 2008 with solo shows by Monica Behrens and Nici Cumpston we remain committed to supporting the practices of women.

Next week, we are hosting an exhibition launch and fundraiser for This Wild Song, the initiative of artist and curator Ilona Nelson. This ongoing project aims to highlight the practices of female artists through a range of interviews and an ongoing series of photographic portraits which will be exhibited at the Singapore High Commission next month.

The fundraiser includes a silent auction of new works by more than 40 extraordinary women and it is open now. Click on the link below to view and bid for work. By doing so, you are showing your support for gender equality in the arts.
