WALKER & HALL WAIHEKE ART AWARD 2018 | Waiheke Community Art Gallery NZ

Susanne Kerr is the winner of the Michael Evans Figurative Award with her artwork Undermined (2018), at the Walker & Hall Waiheke Art Award. Kerr’s painting features in the finalists exhibition at Waiheke Community Art Gallery NZ. The Award is open to all New Zealand based artists working two dimensionally in any medium.

As a painter, Susanne Kerr creates distinctive works that examine the centuries old practice of reinterpreting artistic traditions from other cultures and times.

Though aesthetically influenced by historical visual culture, Kerr’s works are observations of 21st century human behaviour, often focusing on female relationships. Using imagery sourced from daily life, travels, magazines, nature and personal engagements, Kerr endeavours to unravel the subtlety of complex human interactions.
