Catherine Nelson’s new series Other Worlds continues her investigation of utopian perspectives, where micro and macro elements are equally weighted and simultaneously insight. With the eye and training of a painter and years of experience in film special effects, Nelson composes her monumental images from thousands of photographs, relying on her painter’s sensibility for colour and composition.
These meticulously detailed floating worlds transport the viewer to a fantasy utopia where beauty in nature is paramount, while quietly encouraging reflection on the world’s changing environment
