Echo / Palimpsest | Ian Friend

For more than 30 years, Ian Friend has developed subtle and evocative works on paper that reflect his longstanding engagement with jazz, poetry and architecture. Using pigments, inks, crayons and gouaches as his media, Ian builds up images over months and years, resulting in delicately layered yet powerful works which cross the terrain of his lived experience. His current series, Palimpsest, has been developed and re-worked in the studio over the past fourteen years.
