2020 Mosman Art Prize | Mosman Art Gallery

August 26, 2020 - October 4, 2020

Adriane Strampp is a finalist at the 2020 Mosman Art Prize. Strampp’s painting, Light Falls will feature in the finalists exhibition hosted at Mosman Art Gallery in NSW.

Established in 1947, the Mosman Art Prize is Australia’s oldest and most prestigious local government art award, which focuses on contemporary painting. It was founded by the artist, architect and arts advocate, Alderman Allan Gamble, at a time when only a small handful of art prizes were in existence in Australia and the community had very little support and few opportunities to exhibit their work.

2020 Mosman Art Prize Judge, Alexie Glass-Kantor remarks “It is a privilege to encounter artists who are embracing ambitious ideas and offering artworks that can invite new and unique ways of seeing the world. It is notable that with the Mosman Art Prize there is not one winner and that every artist who submitted a work, and those subsequently included in the exhibition, have contributed paintings that are significant and timely. ” – Mosman Prize Judge’s Report

Adriane Strampp is a Melbourne-based romantic and figurative painter. Her sumptuous and evocative paintings tend towards the ethereal, being not about subject as much as the sentiment that it conveys.
