Gallerysmith is delighted to share the news that Christopher Pease's long awaited thirty-four metre long…
Christopher Pease has been awarded the 2021-22 Joondalup Visual Art Commission.
Every year the City of Joondalup celebrates local landmarks and people by commissioning an artwork for their collection. The Visual Art commission seeks work that thematically responds to the social, urban or natural environment of the region. The commission has been a key focus for Joondalup’s Art Collection since 2012.
“For the Joondalup commission, Pease proposes to develop a work based on research of historical documents, maps and imagery of the Joondalup area, looking at the importance of country to Aboriginal inhabitants to facilitate a meaningful dialogue with viewers about the rich and contested history of the region. The completed artwork will be a significant addition to the Art Collection, placed on display within City of Joondalup public buildings.” – City of Joondalup Media Release
